Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Week 31, 2024 Report: Increased Stock Activity and Market Capitalization

The trading week ending on Friday, 2nd August 2024, at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw an increase in share activity and a decrease in bond activity compared to the previous week.

Turnover and Volume

During Week 31 of 2024, the DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 2.535 billion from 1,958,992 shares traded in 1,819 deals. This represents an increase of 24.44% in total turnover and 17.09% in volume traded compared to the previous week, which saw a turnover of TZS 2.037 billion from 1,673,021 shares traded.

Market Capitalization

At the close of Week 31 in 2024, the total market capitalization and domestic market capitalization of listed shares at the DSE amounted to TZS 17,252.07 billion and TZS 12,120.42 billion, respectively. This reflects an increase of 0.66% in total capitalization and 0.57% in domestic capitalization compared to the previous week’s close figures of TZS 17,138.69 billion and TZS 12,050.64 billion.

Bond Market

The bond market recorded transactions worth TZS 5.79 billion, representing a decrease of -75.26% compared to TZS 23.41 billion the previous week.

Indexes

At the end of Week 31 in 2024, all indexes gained value except for the Commercial Services (CS) index, which remained flat, and the Industrial & Allied (IA) index, which decreased by -0.2%. The Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) index experienced the most notable gain, increasing by 1.86% compared to the previous week’s close.
