Historical Relations

Egypt and Tanzania have shared diplomatic ties since Tanzania’s independence in 1961, with significant moments marking their relationship. Notably, in 1964, Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser supported the Zanzibar Revolution, strengthening political and cultural ties.

Over the years, these relations have evolved, particularly under Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who emphasized a more open foreign policy. High-level visits, such as that of Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in May 2024, have reinforced this partnership, highlighting Tanzania’s strategic importance to Egypt in Africa【4】【5】.
