Dar Es Salaam Airport Inaugurate New Terminal 3

Julius Nyerere International Airport new terminal 3

On 1st August 2019, Tanzanian President John Magufuli has inaugurated Terminal 3 of the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam.

The new terminal, which cost TZS 722 billion to build (about USD 314 million), will increase the airport capacity to 8 million passengers annually.

During the inauguration ceremony, President Magufuli reminded that the construction of the terminal had been financed by local funds, without depending on foreign help.

He also urged the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication and the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) to ensure that the new terminal was well maintained because it acted as the country’s mirror for foreign visitors using the airport.

JNIA is the primary airport in the country receiving flights from all over the world. Until now it was operating beyond its capacity handling 2.5 million passengers annually.
