Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Week 33, 2024 Report: Strong Increase in Share and Bond Activity, CRDB Gains 9.68%

The trading week ending on Friday, 16th August 2024, at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a strong increase in share and bond activity compared to the previous week.

Turnover and Volume

During Week 33 of 2024, the DSE recorded a remarkable total turnover of TZS 6.372 billion from 3,678,458 shares traded in 1,770 deals.

This represents an increase of 73.62% in total turnover and a decrease of -31.13% in volume traded compared to the previous week, which saw a turnover of TZS 3.670 billion from 5,341,299 shares traded.

Market Capitalization

At the close of Week 33 of 2024, the total market capitalization and domestic market capitalization of listed shares at the DSE amounted to TZS 17,368.26 billion and TZS 12,321.92 billion, respectively.

This reflects an increase of 0.96% in total capitalization and an increase of 1.27% in domestic capitalization compared to the previous week’s close figures of TZS 17,202.05 billion and TZS 12,166.25 billion.

Bond Market

During week 33 of 2024, the bond market recorded transactions worth TZS 33.99 billion, representing an increase of 46.95% compared to TZS 23.13 billion the previous week.

Indexes

At the end of Week 33 of 2024, all indexes grew except for the Commercial Services (CS) index, which remained flat, and the Industrial & Allied (IA) index, which declined by -0.05% compared to the previous week’s close.

The Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) index once again posted the most significant gain, rising by 3.50%.
