Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Week 6, 2025: Turnover Drops 16%, KCB Leads Gains with 9.76%

The trading week ending Friday, 7th February 2025, at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a decline in market activity, with turnover falling by -16.11%, while KCB led the gainers with a +9.76% increase.

Turnover and Volume

During Week 6 of 2025, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) recorded a total turnover of TZS 6,936.98 million from 5,346,203 shares traded.

This represents a +0.27% increase in turnover compared to TZS 6,918.55 million recorded in Week 5, while trading volume rose by -23.12% from 6,953,845 shares traded the previous week.

Market Capitalization

At the end of Week 6, 2025, the total market capitalization at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at TZS 18,972.76 billion, reflecting a +2.39% increase from TZS 18,529.71 billion recorded in Week 5.

Meanwhile, the domestic market capitalization increased to TZS 12,604.37 billion, marking a +0.24% rise from TZS 12,573.57 billion in the previous week.

Bond Market

The bond market recorded a total turnover of TZS 37.26 billion across 59 deals during Week 6 of 2025, reflecting a -66.01% decline compared to TZS 109.60 billion in Week 5.

The trading activity was dominated by 20-year- and 25-year bonds, accounting for most of the turnover.

The 20-year bond with a 15.49% coupon rate recorded multiple transactions, with prices ranging from 93.00% to 130.34%.

Meanwhile, the 25-year bond with a 15.75% coupon rate saw activity at prices ranging from 99.33% to 109.28%.

Additionally, a limited number of trades were observed in the 10-year and 15-year bonds, with lower trading volumes compared to the longer-term instruments.

The corporate bonds segment recorded minimal activity, with a single trade on a 3-year bond at 92.10%. ​

Indexes

Week 6 of 2025 saw a positive performance across most key indices at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE).

The All Share Index (DSEI) increased by +2.39%, marking a broad market recovery. The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) recorded a modest gain of +0.24%, supported by growth in the banking sector.

The Banks, Finance & Investment Index (BI) posted a +0.49% increase, continuing its upward momentum. The Industrial & Allied Index (IA) also saw a slight uptick of +0.11%, while the Commercial Services Index (CS) remained unchanged.

Stock Performances

Week 6 of 2025 saw mixed performance among stocks at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE).

KCB led the gainers with a +9.76% increase, followed by EABL which rose by +6.07%, and TCCL, which gained +5.56%.

On the downside, NICO declined by -6.06%, making it the biggest loser of the week, followed by DCB, which dropped -3.57%.
