The trading week ending Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a significant rise in the stock prices of three banks—MBP, DCB, and KCB—compared to the previous week.

Turnover and Volume

During Week 34 of 2024, the DSE recorded a remarkable total turnover of TZS 3.087 billion from 3,520,771 shares traded in 1,881 deals.

This represents a decrease of -51.55% in total turnover and a decrease of -4.28% in volume traded compared to the previous week, which saw a turnover of TZS 6.372 billion from 3,678,458 shares traded.

Market Capitalization

At the close of Week 34 of 2024, the total market capitalization and domestic market capitalization of listed shares at the DSE amounted to TZS 17,365.05 billion and TZS 12,302.87 billion, respectively.

This reflects a decrease of -0.01% in total capitalization and a decrease of -0.15% in domestic capitalization compared to the previous week’s close figures of TZS 17,368.26 billion and TZS 12,321.92 billion.

Bond Market

During week 34 of 2024, the bond market recorded transactions worth TZS 30.16 billion, representing a decrease of -11.26% compared to TZS 33.99 billion the previous week.

Indexes

At the end of Week 34 of 2024, all indexes lost value except for the Industrial & Allied (IA) which gained 0.06%, and the Commercial Services (CS) which remained flat.
