Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Report – Week 39, 2024: Turnover Nearly Doubles, TCCL Rises by 10%

The trading week ending on Friday, 27th September 2024, at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw nearly double the turnover compared to the previous four-day trading week.

Turnover and Volume

During Week 39 of 2024, the DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 2,011.32 million from 1,398,294 shares traded in 1,534 deals.

This represents an increase of 95.68% in total turnover and a decrease of -4.26% in volume traded compared to the previous four-day week, which saw a turnover of TZS 1,027.82 million from 1,460,640 shares traded.

Market Capitalization

At the close of Week 39 of 2024, the total market capitalization and domestic market capitalization of listed shares at the DSE amounted to TZS 17,769.71 billion and TZS 12,184.57 billion, respectively.

This reflects an increase of 0.86% in total market capitalization and a decrease of -0.34% in domestic capitalization compared to the previous week’s close figures of TZS TZS 17,616.58 billion and TZS 12,226.30 billion.

Bond Market

During week 39 of 2024, the bond market recorded transactions worth TZS 46.88 billion, representing an increase of 9.68% compared to TZS 42.74 billion the previous week.

Indexes

At the close of Week 39 in 2024, the All Share Index (DSEI) recorded the highest increase in value at 0.87%, while the Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) experienced the largest decrease at -1.07%.
