The four-day trading week ending on Friday 18th October 2024 at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw an increase in total turnover and a decrease in volume compared to the previous week.

Turnover and Volume

During Week 42 of 2024, the DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 4,977.24 million from 2,046,632 shares traded.

Most of the trading activity took place on Wednesday 16th October 2024, with a daily total turnover of TZS 4,218.37 million.

This represents an increase of 9.56% in total turnover and a decrease of -35.40% in volume traded compared to the previous week, which saw a turnover of TZS 4,542.59 million from 3,168,625 shares traded.

Market Capitalization

At the close of Week 42 of 2024, the total market capitalization and domestic market capitalization of listed shares at the DSE amounted to TZS 18,114.84 billion and TZS 12,160.78 billion, respectively.

This reflects an increase of 1.24%and a decrease of -0.13% compared to the previous week’s close figures of TZS 17,892.17 billion and TZS 12,176.73 billion.

Bond Market

During week 42 of 2024, the bond market recorded transactions worth TZS 63.16 billion, representing an increase of 30.03% compared to TZS 48.57 billion the previous week.

Indexes

At the close of Week 42 in 2024, the All Share Index (DSEI) and the Banks, Finance & Investment Index (BI) showed an increase in value, while the Tanzania Share Index (TSI) and the Industrial & Allied Index (IA) experienced a decrease. The Commercial Services Index (CS) remained flat.
